A charity is appealing for help in re-homing dozens of rabbits that have come into its care.

Annie Marriott from the charity said: "Animals In Need is currently inundated with rabbits after recently giving their support to relieve animals from a hoarding situation.

"Despite rabbits being the third most popular companion animal, they are also the most neglected.

"The charity now has 55 rabbits, all of which will be neutered, fully vaccinated and ID chipped prior to re-homing.

"Several pairs are ready for adoption and many more will be available in coming weeks."

Anyone who thinks they can offer a suitable home to any of the rabbits can visit the shelter and talk to staff for advice between midday and 3pm Tuesday to Sunday.

Home checks are always carried out prior to adoption.
