LITTLE HARROWDEN MURDER TRIAL: Three men guilty of manslaughter

An outburst from a relative of the victim temporarily halted verdicts

Three men have been found guilty of manslaughter in the Little Harrowden murder trial.

The verdicts were paused following an outburst by a relative of the victim when Sifean Ghilani, who accepts he stabbed Mr Pentelow, was found not guilty of murder.

The man swore, shouted and stormed out of the courtroom.

Judge Mayo called for the man to be arrested.

After a break, the verdicts continued.

Sifean Ghilani, 20, of Winstanley Road, Wellingborough; Tristan Patel, 18, of Newcomen Road, Wellingborough; Levar Thomas, 21, of Knox Road, Wellingborough were all found guilty of conspiracy to rob and manslaughter.

The three men were found not guilty of murder.

A 16-year-old boy who had been charged with conspiracy to rob and murder was acquitted on all counts.

Tristan Patel was also found guilty of supplying Class A drugs, a charge Ghilani had pleaded guilty to on the third day of trial.

Over the last few weeks, 12 jurors have heard evidence in the trial for the three men and a 16-year-old boy.

The jury started their deliberations last Thursday and considered their verdicts for 24 hours and eight minutes.

Judge Mayo told the jury yesterday (Wednesday) that he would accept majority verdicts of 11-1 or 10-12 if the jury could not agree unanimously.

Ghilani was unanimously found guilty of manslaughter and Patel was unanimously found guilty of supplying Class A drugs.

All other guilty verdicts were reached by a majority.

At the end of the verdicts, Judge Mayo thanked the jury for their work.

He said the member of the public who interrupted proceedings would be dealt with severely.

The men will be sentenced at a later date.
