Layby closures for long stretch of A14 announced
A number of laybys on the A14 through Northamptonshire are to be closed over the coming weeks to allow highways maintenance work to be carried out.
A traffic order has been published by West Northamptonshire Council on the Public Notice Portal.
It reads: “National Highways Limited intends to make an order on the A14 Trunk Road, between Thrapston and Catthorpe, to allow routine maintenance works to be carried out.
“The effect of the order will be to close, in phases, any layby situated adjacent to:

“(a) the westbound carriageway of the A14 from its junction with the entry slip road leading from its roundabout junction with the A45 and the A605 (Thrapston), to its junction with the M6 at Catthorpe; and
“(b) the eastbound carriageway of the A14 from its junction with the M6 at Catthorpe, to its junction with the entry slip road leading from Thrapston.
“The laybys will be closed between 1pm and 6am.
“The work is expected to start on Monday, May 11, and continue for about 10 weeks.
“The order will come into force on May 8.”
The order adds that vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority or ambulance purposes and vehicles being used in connection with the works will be exempt from the closures.
