Launch of new 'safe and welcoming' weekly youth club in Wellingborough

A new youth club based at Swanspool Pavilion will soon begin its weekly sessions, giving local young people a place to ‘build confidence and learn new skills.’

Swanspool Hub will take place every Friday evening from 4pm until 6pm beginning on Friday, April 10. The club is aimed at people aged between 14 and 18-years-old, offering drinks and snacks while also giving young people the opportunity to learn new life skills.

Wellingborough Town Council believes the club ‘responds to a clear need’ for accessible youth provision in the area, further utilising the now town council-owned pavilion.

A town council spokesman said: “We’re excited to launch Swanspool Hub, a brand new youth club for young people aged 14 to 18, created in partnership with Service Six and made possible thanks to funding from The National Lottery.

“This vital funding has enabled us to deliver a much-needed youth provision in the area, creating a safe and welcoming space where young people can connect, build confidence, and learn new skills.

"Come along to our opening night and be part of something new. Going forward, sessions will run every Friday, featuring activities like cooking with brand-new equipment, social time, and much more.”

Young people in the Wellingborough area are invited to attend the opening night, and be part of the community initiative from the beginning, helping to shape the weekly sessions every Friday.

The launch of Swanspool Hub comes shortly after another Wellingborough-based youth club, Up2U, celebrated its 10th anniversary last month.

While Up2U has sessions aimed at local children aged eight and above, Swanspool Hub will offer activities and a safe space for teenagers aged 14 to 18.

Cllr Bell, Leader of Wellingborough Town Council added: "We are delighted to introduce Swanspool Hub and provide a space where young people feel safe, supported, and inspired. Thanks to National Lottery funding and our partnership with Service Six, we can offer meaningful opportunities that will make a real difference in the lives of local young people."
