Landmark Wellingborough hotel goes up for sale with £1m guide price
The Hind Hotel in Wellingborough town centre has gone on the market following its closure earlier this month.
The hotel, which is within a Grade-II listed building, is made up of three function rooms and 34 bedrooms. Also part of the property is a restaurant, resident’s lounge bar, coffee shop, kitchens and baggage store. There is also a courtyard car park for approximately 11 vehicles.
With a guide price of £1m exclusive to buyers, the building is being sold with the intention of being re-opened as a hotel or for ‘adaptive reuse.’
Simon Toseland, a director of Prop-Search who is managing the sale, said: “Whilst the Hind Hotel has sadly closed its doors for now, it represents a rare opportunity to acquire a building positioned at the very heart of Wellingborough.

"The combination of a historic listed building with modern upgrades, creates an offering that we anticipate will appeal to operators looking to capitalise on its future business potential.
“Alternatively, we can see the hotel offering an opportunity to a developer for adaptive reuse, with a possible transformation to create a mixed-use commercial/residential space, cultural venue or high-end apartments.”
The previous owners estimate a total spending of £2.2m on refurbishments with £1.3m spent on external refurbishment and £900,000 on the interior.
Bosses announced The Hind Hotel would be closing its doors earlier this month, citing ‘challenging’ business conditions as the reason for their departure from the town centre.
Following its closure Marcus Holden, previous owner of The Hind Hotel, said: “Ultimately, the damage was caused by historic debt incurred in the refurbishment of the hotel and during Covid, things that would not be such an issue to a potential new owner as they would have had the advantage of our efforts and the money put into supporting the company aside from debt.”
The listing says the building would be suitable for ‘other businesses’ including care or retirement, nursing, health and well-being, creative and studio spaces, offices or business space, subject to approved planning.
