Celebrations began with a Zoom call with her family in Australia, who she has not seen all together in 49 years.

She then enjoyed a visit from a close family friend and a trip out around the local countryside in the sunshine.

Westhill Park’s resident hairdresser also made an appearance give Peggy a fresh hair do and in the evening, Peggy was joined by staff and fellow friends for a surprise birthday supper where she enjoyed being waited on hand and foot.

Peggy said: “Thank you to you all, everyone who put in all this hard work and sent me presents and flowers to make my day so special.

"It was lovely to be able to speak to all of my family together on my birthday”.

Peggy said receiving a 100th birthday card from the Queen “is one of her proudest and [most] treasured moments”.
