A favourite Kettering family play destination has become the latest business to close its doors permanently in the wake of the Covid pandemic.

Kids Play, housed in the same complex as Kettering Conference Centre and the Lighthouse Theatre, has announced that it will not reopen after the easing of restrictions.

The indoor play centre took the place of the Kettering Leisure Village ice rink, launched as Kids Kingdom with climbing frames, drop slide, trampolines, mini-dodgems, ladybird carousel, climbing wall, and tangle tower.

Soft play centres were allowed to reopen from Monday, May 17.

A statement from Kids Play's owners said: "Following this incredibly difficult year, combined with the ongoing uncertainty ahead, we have sadly taken the decision to permanently close Kids Play Kettering.

"We’d like to thank our customers for their loyalty and support over the years."

To enable reopening owners of soft play centres were having to reduce visitor numbers and introduce bookings for visits as well as regularly sanitising equipment and ensuing social distancing.
