Kettering town centre bar and pubs close for refurbs but it will be back to business soon

Customers of two of Kettering’s most popular town centre venues will have to find new places to enjoy hospitality – at least for the next few days.

Kino Lounge in Market Place is getting a makeover with a new spruced-up colour scheme and tweaks to the interior decor, whilst The Stitching Pony in Market Street is also closed, for maintenance.

Painters and decorators have been busy at the Kino with the refurbishment after closing on Sunday night (February 8).

Located in the former Corn Exchange, Kino Lounge opened in 2014, named in tribute to the building's history as a cinema.

A spokesperson for Kino Lounge said: “It’s time for us to close our doors until Thursday, February 12 at 9am. We are having a small refurb on our very old building and we can’t wait to welcome you back with smiles and coffees.”

Customers of The Stitching Pony will have to wait a little longer to get back to their favourite pub as the bar is closed for ‘essential maintenance’.

Work has already started at the Market Street hostelery.

A spokesman for The Stitching Pony said: “We’re giving the place a bit of sparkle. We’re hoping to reopen at 6pm on the February, Friday 13 — keep an eye on socials for updates!”

Last week, it was announced that The Old Market Inn, another town centre pub, would also be getting a makeover.
