Kettering Remembrance Sunday parade and service as town pays its respects to the fallen

Hundreds of residents have joined dignitaries to pay their respects at the annual Act of Remembrance held in Kettering with a parade and service at the town’s market place.

Following a parade, wreaths were laid at the drumhead ceremony with the service led by Rev Helen Wakefield-Carr, chaplain to the Kettering Branch of the Royal British Legion.

Wreaths were laid by dignitaries including Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Northamptonshire Simon Harker, High Sheriff Roger Butler, Mayor of Kettering Cllr Lauren Glanfield, Rear Admiral Andrew Kyte and MP for Kettering Rose Wrighting.

Veterans and serving personnel from the Armed Forces joined councillors, faith groups and community organisations to remember the fallen.

Members of the Salvation Army band accompanied the hymns, cadets formed up in Sheep Street and dignitaries assembled on the steps for the service.

Wreaths were then marched to the war memorial and placed on the cenotaph by Northamptonshire Emergency Services Cadets and Air Cadets.
