Kettering Isebrook School pupils' heartfelt thank you party to celebrate giving – and receiving

Pupils at a Kettering secondary school have thanked supporters by hosting a celebration tea party and concert from the Voice in a Million choir.

Isebrook School, managed by the Creating Tomorrow Trust, welcomed fundraisers who have been helping fund extra facilities for students.

But the school community has been taking part in fundraising of their own, with a fun run to support Kettering General Hospital’s Twinkling Stars appeal.

With the assembly hall transformed into a pop-up venue, guests enjoyed afternoon tea with choral accompaniment – and a thank you from head teacher Tracy Hall.

She said: “It’s been a fantastic day. I wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone for the way in which they have supported us, for their generosity and for taking the time to fundraise for us.

“There’s so much potential in our students. Our students gain so much from supporting others and their local community and show compassion and commitment at all times - they also love to have fun and the superhero race for Twinkling stars was definitely full of fun and laughter."

Welcomed to the school were fundraisers from AA Projects, Hays Recruitment, Kettering Golf Club and Kettering Tang Soo Do.

AA Projects’ Three Peaks challenge raised more than £2,000 – doubled by the firm’s match-funding programme – to provide horticultural equipment.

Ms Hall said: “We have a number of large building projects in scope at the moment including a Small Animal Care Provision and significant work is planned to update our current Horticulture Provision including new polytunnels and a double workshop that will be used to do things like bricklaying and plastering as well as improving our current facilities.

“Our vision is to have both a therapeutic and vocational curriculum that will support our students needs across the school.”

Students became waiting staff for guests before handing over £968 to Twinkling Stars to support KGH Maternity Bereavement Suite and accepting a donation from Kettering Golf Club’s Penguin Society.

Ms Hall added: “Giving is just as important as receiving. Never forget the difference you make when you support us, thank you for your kindness and generosity."
