Cransley Hospice is hosting a free fundraising event called the "Little BIG Night In" where guests and hosts will cook a curry and prepare cocktails alongside each other in a Facebook group.

The hospice still has to raise over £1m a year to keep its services going and is hoping to raise money through this virtual event on Friday, April 24 at 7pm.

The evening was going to be "The BIG night in" but as plans started, Cransley Hospice noticed that other charities would be hosting a BIG night in the night before on Thursday, April 23.

A spokesman said: "Cransley Hospice decided that as Children in Need and Comic Relief are a little bigger than them, they would do the decent thing and re-name their BIG Night In the 'little BIG Night In'."

The night will be held virtually through a Facebook group and will begin with curry and cocktails.

They said: "As the evening progresses the fundraising hosts will be turning up the heat with some live entertainment and special appearances from Britain’s Got Talent finalist, soprano Faryl Smith, BGT contestant and Cransley Hospice’s own Hayley Coles and solo artist Marieke Vink - even Cassie the Cransley Crocodile is tipped to be making an appearance early in the evening.."

The night is a first for Cransley Hospice. The spokesman said: "Since the beginning of the lockdown, the fundraising team have been working from home and finding different ways of fundraising when so many of their normal events and collections have had to stop."

The hospice is still open to patients that need end of life care and the hospice at home service is still taking care of patients with complex medical needs and end of life care in their own homes or care homes.

The night is free to join in and you can register on the Cransley Hospice event page on their website or the Cransley Hospice Facebook events page, where you can download a special curry recipe and cocktail recipes.
