Residents from Kettering and surrounding villages are reporting a brief loss of power this morning across the entire town.

Just before 10.30am this morning (Thursday, September 24), Kettering residents say their lights, TVs, and internet connections went down for a moment and the outage even hit KGH.

The area's electricity provider, Western Power Distribution, reported power cuts in Kettering on its outage map and estimated it would be fixed by 2.30pm.

The issue seems to be resolved now and is no longer appearing on the live power cut map.

People from all over Kettering have been commenting on social media to say their area was affected, including the Leisure Village, Brambleside, Ise Lodge, the Grange, near Wicksteed Park, Rockingham Road, and the town centre.

Even those further away in Warkton and Geddington said they had noticed the outage.

Most people reported a very short power cut, one person wrote: "Telly went off then back on."

Another said: "My internet and TV went down."

One person added: "I was in Poundland up town and they all went off."

Two people said the power outage was noticed at KGH. The hospital's director of facilities and estates, Ian Allen, said: "The Trust was affected by the power dip which affected part of Kettering. Our standby systems engaged and were immediately stood down as the impact was only for one second.

"As a precaution we checked all of our systems worked as normal after the power dip."

It is not known what the cause of the widespread power cut was, one social media user joked: "September 2020 has kicked in."

Western Power Distribution has been contacted for comment.
