Kettering club's first female president to welcome stars of netball and cricket at charity sports dinner
Kettering club's first female president of Kettering Huxloe Rotary Club will welcome two sports stars – one a netball gold medallist, the other a legend of cricket commentary.
Kettering and Kettering Huxloe Rotary Club will jointly host the charity dinner on Friday, March 27 at Kettering Park Hotel with guest speakers broadcaster Jonathan Agnew and gold medal-winning netballer Eboni Usoro-Brown, now the President of England Netball.
Ticket sales, a raffle and an auction, will raise vital funds for local charities. Previous charity dinners have enabled donations to be made to organisations such as Kettering Food Bank, Home-Start Kettering, Kettering Street Pastors, En-fold Autism Support Service, Coats For Kids, Kids Out Day at Wicksteed Park, Cransley Hospice, Kettering & District Riding for the Disabled and the Memory Café.
President of Kettering Huxloe Rotary Club, Kim Parry, said: “The charity dinner is such a great night out and although the event has been held for over fifty years, the last five years has seen a massive change to this annual event.

"No longer is it a sportsman’s dinner, it is a charity dinner that includes a brilliant female speaker, beautiful raffle prizes that women want to win and it’s the men that are selling the raffle tickets!
"Being the first female president of the club, I am proud of these changes that have made the event an inclusive event for everyone and now over 20 per cent of the attendees are women.
"It is so important that everyone is allowed to shine and have some wonderful female speakers and role models, have a great evening and raise money for all the brilliant local charities with have in and around Kettering.”
The evening consists of a three course meal, a raffle and auction and two speakers
