Join MP's community meeting to discuss use of £20m funding for 'left behind' Wellingborough estate
Queensway is set to receive £20 million in funding over the next 10 years, and residents are to be consulted on how it will be spent at a meeting with the local MP this weekend.
Residents of the Wellingborough estate are invited to have their voice heard at a meeting on Saturday, January 17 at Glamis Hall.
From 2pm until 4pm, Gen Kitchen, MP for Wellingborough and Rushden, will host a community meeting in an effort to give people the chance to ‘take back control of their local neighbourhoods.’
Ms Kitchen said: “This is an incredible opportunity for Queensway and I really want the local community to be the driving force behind the project.

“I’m really looking forward to the event this weekend. It will be great to hear directly from residents abut improvements they would like to see in the area.
“This is an informal meeting and we will be focusing on some of the key issues that have been raised with us so far such as community spaces, sports facilities, housing and health facilities. But we welcome all ideas, no matter how big or small.”
Residents who attend the meeting at the community centre in Goldsmith Road will be able to contribute ideas for how the money should be spent.
In September, the government named Queensway as one of three areas in North Northamptonshire to receive £2m every year for ten years under its Pride in Place programme, the others being Avondale Grange in Kettering and Kingswood in Corby, with each having been labelled a 'left behind area’ in 2021.
Funds have been distributed to North Northants Council to support local jobs, community facilities, green spaces, and community safety.
Saturday will also see the opening of a new group room to the rear of Glamis Hall.
The renovation, made possible by funding from the Community Ownership Fund, includes an upgrade to the changing room toilets and corridor, and creates a self-contained suite of rooms that can be hired by community organisations and individuals.
