The St Helens comedian quit stand-up more than 10 years ago because he was disillusioned with touring but is back after hinting he might return to the circuit.

He starred as Al in the PG Tips advert and since then he has been a regular in front of and behind the camera as an actor, writer, director and comedian known for his alter-egos, surreal humour and unique voice.

Other notable roles include Geoff Maltby in the ITV comedy series Benidorm and Eric Agnew in the BBC sitcom Still Open All Hours.

He will be supported by Angelos Epithemiou, who replaced him on the revived Shooting Stars in 2009.
