Irchester mobile Post Office service back on the road this week

A mobile Post Office service for Irchester has been restored by the operators Oakley Mobile Services, with weekly visits to the village ready to resume this week after a three-week break.

The temporary mobile service will pop into Sherington near Newport Pagnell, Yardley Hastings and finally Irchester after being added by Post Office Ltd.

The Postmaster for Oakley has will service the route every Thursday from April 1 on a temporary basis whilst we continue permanent solution is found.

Anthony Bayley, Post Office provision lead, said: “We are pleased to be able to reinstate a temporary mobile Post Office service to Irchester, Yardley Hastings and Sherington, whilst we continue to seek a permanent solution."

A spokesman for Post Office Ltd said: "The travelling Post Office is aboard a specifically designed vehicle. It is a tried and tested way of maintaining service to communities. It provides the best possible solution to maintain Post Office services to the community whilst we continue to seek a permanent solution."

A wide range of services will continue to be available from the vehicle and customers will still be able to collect benefits in cash using our everyday banking services or Post Office card account.

Despite being a step into the mobile vehicle, however, an electronic tailgate is available to facilitate easy access for wheelchair users and those with disabilities.

The mobile Post Office will visit Irchester Working Mens Club - 5 High Street NN29 7AA - from 1pm to 2pm every Thursday. Car parking is available in the club car park.
