Internet back on in most properties across Northants that were affected by damaged cables

A temporary internet service has been implemented for ‘virtually everyone’ across Northamptonshire who was affected by the damaged cables.

Openreach has today (April 23) confirmed that most properties will now have a temporary service meaning phone lines and broadband can be accessed.

The provider has a few more connections to finish, but everyone should be reconnected today.

A spokesman for Openreach said: “We’ve got temporary service sorted for virtually everyone now, with a few more to do today. So people will be able to use their phones and broadband as normal.

“We will now start work on a permanent repair and switch it over from the temporary service when that’s all complete.”

The connection issues started on Monday (April 20) after cables were ‘badly damaged’ in Broughton.

Thousands of properties in Moulton, Kimbolton, Broughton, Corby, Kettering, Oundle and Thrapston.

Northamptonshire Police investigated the damage and were satisfied that there was ‘no criminal intent’.
