Hot Fuzz-style chase as Northants Police rescue swan from A45 near Rushden Lakes

A swan found on a busy dual carriageway has been rescued by police - in a Hot Fuzz-style incident.

Northants Roads Policing Team were called to the A45 near Rushden Lakes on Sunday (October 13) to reports that a swan was on the road.

The apprehended bird was pictured wrapped in a hi-vis jacket unlike Simon Pegg's character in the comedy film who failed to catch an escaped swan.

Officers on X said: “A diverse day for us yesterday, some highlights being reports of loose swans on the A45 in Rushden. Found to be just the one swan actually, safely relocated off the carriageway.”

A Northants Police spokesman said: “This happened yesterday on the A45 westbound between Higham and Rushden at about 6.30pm.

“Swans removed safely!”
