These four friends are preparing to ditch their lockdown locks in support of a charity which has been rescuing and re-homing animals across Northants for 30 years.

Lockdown hasn't been easy for anyone, but it has been a real struggle for charities like Animals In Need who have been unable to do their normal fundraising activities.

With cats, dogs, rabbits and lots of other animals in their care, the charity in Little Irchester had to come up with a plan.

Annie Marriott from the charity said: "Not being able to fundraise during the Covid-19 lockdown has been heartbreaking and we continue to worry about how we will find the funds to care for our lovely animals, especially the nine Jack Russells that have recently joined us.

"All are in need of expensive veterinary treatments at the same time, including chipping, worming and neutering.

"When it comes to fundraising, social distancing has proven very difficult, so we sat down, put our heads together and came up with a great idea."

Charity founder Roy Marriott and wife Annie, who is the shelter manager, and good friends Angie and Stu will be collectively experiencing the ultimate short back and sides when they submit themselves to the barbers clippers for an all over top crop in aid of Animals In Need.

After three-and-a-half months of not being able to cut their hair due to lockdown, the four friends will be shaving each other's heads for all to see in an online Animals in Need extravaganza.

They have already raised more than £700 but are trying to raise as much money as possible.

People can sponsor them via this JustGiving page and join them on Animals In Need's Facebook at 2pm tomorrow (Saturday) to see the dramatic results.
