Good start for new Wellingborough nursery as Ofsted inspection praises 'happy and confident' children

Glenvale Park Nursery has received a good rating following a visit from Ofsted, with leaders ‘thrilled’ by the result they believe is crucial in helping establish a strong reputation moving forward.

The report, published by Ofsted on October 22 following an inspection last month, says the nursery is good in all areas, including behaviour and attitudes, quality of education, personal development, and leadership and management.

The Glenvale Park learning facility is one of 14 Toad Hall nurseries.

On the result, a spokesman said: “We are thrilled to have received a good rating from Ofsted, which feels especially rewarding as we prepare to celebrate the nursery’s first birthday.

"Despite being a relatively new team, the inspector highlighted our strong sense of teamwork. We are proud that this dedication to creating a positive environment for both staff and children has been recognised.

"At Toad Hall Nursery, we pride ourselves on working closely with parents and carers to create a genuine partnership. The report emphasised this, noting that ‘Parents are warmly welcomed into the nursery every day’ and are given detailed updates about their child's day and activities. Parents appreciate the support from our staff, which helps extend their child's learning at home.

"This effective partnership between parents and staff contributes to a consistent approach to the children’s development.”

Despite only being in operation for one year, the report praises the culture already established at the nursery in Beaumont Road, noting that although several of the staff and management team are new, there is a clear team spirit and approach in the nursery.

It says staff work well together and feel valued and supported by the management team.

The report says the nursery is well organised and equipped with resources to help keep children motivated to explore and be curious, and an open and positive culture around safeguarding has ensured that arrangements are effective.

However, Ofsted recommends that in order to improve, Toad Hall Nursery in Wellingborough should ‘extend the development of staff's knowledge about how children learn and monitor their practice to ensure their interactions and teaching skills build over time’, and ‘further ensure the planning of activities is meaningful and pitched accurately.’

Toad Hall Nursery in Glenvale Park opened in September 2023 in time for the 2023/24 academic year, with this being the nursery’s first visit from inspectors.

It sits in a new build development that is continuing to take shape in Wellingborough, and has provisions for up to 100 children in the Early Years Foundation Stage from 0 to three-years-old, with 78 currently on the roll.

A Toad Hall spokesman added: “The Ofsted grade is crucial to us as we work to establish a strong reputation in Northamptonshire with our first nursery in the region.

"A positive Ofsted rating not only reassures families about the quality of care we provide but also supports our commitment to maintaining high standards as we expand.”
