Geddington primary school's play could be on TV this Christmas!
Geddington C of E primary school has been named a national finalist in a competition to have their Christmas play broadcast on TV.
The school entered their play 'Everyone Loves a Baby' in Virgin Media's Christmas Stars competition.
The winning school will have their Christmas play recorded professionally and narrated by presenter Stephen Mulhern, who will come to the school and narrate in person.
The competition aims to find the best primary school play in the UK.
Geddington primary school's play is by primary school songwriters Out of the Ark and is about a family who have just had a new baby.
Everyone loves the new baby, but the older children are not so sure. The children go on a walk where they encounter Mary and Joseph, kings, shepherds and angels who tell them about a special baby called Jesus, who is about to be born.
Geddington primary school said: "Our play, Everybody Loves a Baby, by Out of the Ark, will tell the traditional Nativity story but with lava-trees, flossing angels, travellers pulling trunkis, and 16 four-year-olds dressed as stars, lit up with fairy lights singing Twinkle, Twinkle acapella.
"It will be all singing, all danging with the most magical story of all at its heart."
If the school wins, the play will be broadcast on demand to Virgin TV's customers in the days leading up to Christmas.
Even if they do not win the main prize, Geddington primary school will not be walking away empty handed.
The runners up will win £1,000 and 15 ukuleles while the other 22 regional finalists will win £100 and two ukuleles each.
The winning school will win the TV broadcast but also get a £5,000 cheque and several amazing prizes.
A class will be invited to watch Andrew Lloyd-Webber's West End show 'School of Rock the Musical' and they'll receive a masterclass from the cast.
The winning school will also receive 10 ukuleles.
David Bouchier, chief digital entertainment officer at Virgin Media, said: "A huge congratulations to Kettering’s Geddington primary school for being named as a finalist in our magical Christmas Stars competition.
“Its production has the perfect ingredients for a feel-good festive play which could be enjoyed by millions of Virgin TV customers this Christmas.
“Stay tuned to find out who will be our winner – good luck everyone at Geddington!”
