Students at The Ferrers School are celebrating their GCSE results despite facing significant challenges this year due to Covid-19 restrictions.

This year’s GCSE exams were cancelled as a result of COVID-19 restrictions and students’ results were based on centre-assessed grades.

These were estimated on performance in mocks and progress assessments, as well as attainment throughout the GCSE course.

Angela Smith, principal at The Ferrers School, said: “Congratulations to our students, I am very proud of how hard you have all worked throughout your studies and the resilience you

have shown despite the recent challenges.

“It is especially important to be able to recognise and celebrate students’ personal achievements with the sudden removal of this summer's exam series and the subsequent standardisation processes that have taken place with the allocation of Centre Assessed grades.

“Students and staff have shown outstanding commitment and dedication, and this is reflected in the GCSE outcomes.

“We are incredibly proud of how students have handled these difficulties and will ensure that we continue to provide ongoing support to them in the coming days.

"I wish all of our students the best of luck in the future as they return to The Ferrers School Sixth Form, move on to college or take up apprenticeships.”
