Funding boost made available for Northamptonshire charities and groups working to end food poverty
Applications are open until mid-November
Local groups and charities that are working through the pandemic to help end food poverty are now able to apply for more funding.
Northamptonshire Community Foundation is one of 46 across the country that has been given a share of £1.5 million to hand out to local groups.
The funding boost comes from the Co-op Food Fund raised through sales of its summer picnic range.
Deputy CEO Rachel McGrath said: “We are delighted to have launched this fund on behalf of the Co-op in order to provide much needed food aid during the Covid-19 pandemic and to fund local sustainable solutions for addressing food poverty in our communities and neighbourhoods.
“This timely fund will help resource local groups to provide support to some of the most vulnerable people and protect people’s health and wellbeing especially families facing financial hardship.”
Since April and throughout the Covid-19 pandemic Northamptonshire Community Foundation has already awarded more than £300,000 to 105 projects specifically providing food aid to vulnerable residents.
However, in total the Northamptonshire Community Foundation has allocated £1.8 million in grant awards since April 1, 2020.Food groups wanting to apply for the latest Co-op funding have until November 13 and can do so here.
