From teenage fundraiser to lifelong volunteer – 41 pictures of Northamptonshire heroes being honoured

The annual awards, organised by Northamptonshire Community Foundation, took place at Wicksteed Park on Friday and celebrated 49 winners from across North and West Northamptonshire.

Held during Volunteers’ Week and as part of the Foundation’s 25th anniversary celebrations, the event brought together representatives from local councils, the voluntary sector and community organisations to honour individuals and groups making a difference in their local areas.

The awards, delivered in partnership with North and West Northamptonshire Councils and Wicksteed Park, recognise people whose compassion, commitment and hard work have had a lasting impact on their communities.

Among those honoured was 14-year-old Jacob Waldon, who supports people experiencing homelessness every week while also raising money through fundraising challenges.

Christopher Smith was recognised for using his own experience of baby loss to campaign for improved support for bereaved families and raise thousands of pounds for related causes.

Frank Mba received recognition for his volunteer work with the United African Association, while Elona Latifi was celebrated for supporting members of the Albanian community and helping people feel connected and understood.

The Stanwick 10K Races Team was honoured for organising a volunteer-led event that has raised money for local causes and brought communities together for more than 20 years.

Rocky Coles was recognised for his efforts to transform St Giles Churchyard into a greener and more welcoming space, while Maggie Clare was celebrated for continuing to volunteer at her local community café in her 80s.

Rachel McGrath, chief executive of Northamptonshire Community Foundation, said: “As we celebrate 25 years of supporting communities across Northamptonshire, these awards are a powerful reminder of the extraordinary people at the heart of our county.

“Each and every winner has shown outstanding dedication, kindness and resilience, often quietly going above and beyond without recognition.”
