Free Christmas art competition sets out to capture 'winter in north Northamptonshire'

Children from north Northamptonshire can take part in a Christmas art competition for the chance to win a cash prize.

The theme for this year’s competition is to create a festive scene showing young people’s favourite place in winter in north Northamptonshire, with the winning entries shared on the North Northants Council website and social media.

Winners of each age group –school years’ reception to year 2, year 3 to year 6, and year 7 to year 11– will receive a £20 voucher, with the overall winner receiving a £50 voucher and a framed print of their entry. Entries should include the artist’s school year, or date of birth if home-educated.

Cllr Elizabeth Wright, executive member for children’s, families and education, at North Northamptonshire Council, said: “With Christmas just around the corner, this is a lovely opportunity for children and teenagers to put their creative energy into something that, not only shows off their artistic skills, but also showcases some of the unique and beautiful places across north Northamptonshire.

"I cannot wait to see what young people come up with, and I know looking through the artwork will put us all in the festive spirit.”

The free-to-enter seasonal art competition is open to children aged four to 16, with hand-drawn or digital art being accepted. The deadline for entries is Friday, December 5.

All art will be judged by a panel of North Northants Council judges, with winners being announced on December 15.
