North Northants Council (NNC) say ‘The proposals are ‘to bring the parking fees in line with other stations in the local area’ and residents have until Sunday, November 3, to have their say.

The pre-consultation was launched out of the blue back in July, and the news was met with criticisms from people who use the station and those who live nearby. At the time the town’s recently elected MP, Lee Barron, urged the council and East Midlands Railways to come up with a long-term plan for the station.
According to NNC, the pre-consultation received 90 responses which expressed the need for an off-peak tariff and options for parking charges, alongside the need for additional parking spaces.
The revised proposals include an off-peak rate and intends to increase the number of parking spaces, as well as making a section of the entrance/exit one way.

Cllr Matt Binley, the council’s executive member for highways, travel and assets, said: “Following our pre-consultation earlier in the year, we have taken on board the feedback received, and the proposals now include off-peak rates as well as changes to the number of car parking spaces.
“The proposals would bring Corby station in line with the lowest priced station parking charges in the area and residents should be assured that we have considered all options very carefully before going out to consultation on proposed rises.”
Jason Smithers, leader of NNC, added: “It is important that people have their say on issues that impact them and we know that a lot of people use Corby station daily - often travelling in by car. With this in mind, we want to hear from residents, businesses and visitors about the proposed changes and I would urge people to have their say before November 3.”
