Emergency traffic lights in Kettering town centre as gas leak discovered

Emergency crews from Cadent are working to track and repair a leaking gas main under a major Kettering town centre road junction.

Three-way traffic lights are in place at the junction of Bowling Green Road, Northampton Road, Headlands and Sheep Street.

A smell of gas had been reported in the area where a previous repair had been made last year.

The pipes that lead from the town centre go up Bowling Green Road were laid in 1910.

A spokesman for Cadent said: “Cadent are carrying out emergency gas repair works. These repairs can take time to resolve, but this is to ensure that we continue to provide the safest and most reliable service to our customers.”
