Emergency road closure of A43 near Kettering leads to traffic backing-up in area

An emergency road closure of the A43 near Kettering has led to traffic backing-up on approaches to the area.

Motorists travelling towards Kettering from the direction of Corby found themselves caught in long tailbacks after the closure of the northern bypass between Rockingham Road and junction 7 of the A14.

One family attempting to get into Kettering town centre said they had to abandon their plans after being stuck in the congestion.

Traffic flow maps show tailbacks nearly back to Grange Road, just after Barford Bridge.

Motorists are already facing long delays along Northfield Avenue due to week-long roadworks in Rothwell Road close to Kettering General Hospital.

A spokeswoman for North Northants Council said: “The road is temporarily closed to enable emergency repairs to defects in the carriageway.

“Works will be completed by 3pm when the traffic management will be removed and road re-opened.”
