The firm, which has its eyes on the MoneyShop unit that has been empty since December, is known for its Halal versions of food found in other large takeaway chains.

Its owners now want to bring the brand to Corby and have asked the council's planning department to consider a change of use for the unit. It will have a small seating area at the front of the shop but will primarily be used for takeaway.

Dixy was founded in 1986 by two British Pakistanis and serves a range of fast food including fried and grilled chicken, burgers, tortilla wraps, pizzas, sides and deserts.
