Remember the name Alfie Cridland - because you might be hearing it on the radio this summer.

The Desborough DJ's debut single 'Last Day in Paradise', which he has created with Scotland's Paul Kay, is being touted as one of the feel-good club songs of the year ahead of its official release on June 26.

It's already recorded healthy iTunes pre-sales and the pair hope their foray into music production will break into the top 20 in the dance chart and potentially the overall chart to challenge some of the world's biggest artists.

Alfie, 24, said: "I have always been a guy from a small town with a big dream.

"To have someone from Desborough in the iTunes charts alongside artists like Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga and Drake would be incredible."

Alfie started to make a name for himself after winning a DJ competition in 2017, but his love of music started when he became DJ at a school disco at Montsaye Academy in Rothwell.

For the past two years he has been resident DJ at a club in Zante and it was in Zante that he met Paul.

When they returned to the UK they spent almost every weekend together - despite living more than 350 miles apart - performing at UK nightclubs and working on their track at a studio in Leicester.

They hope the track, which took eight months to make from start to finish, will 'bring some good vibes' and be a party anthem when clubs re-open after the Covid-19 pandemic.

They also hope it will be heard in cars and offices across the country on UK radio stations.

With clubbers unable to go to party destinations such as Ibiza, Zante and Magaluf, Alfie has been playing online festivals and broadcasting DJ sets.

Alfie, who is managed by his dad Barry, said: "We wanted to release a single which was just a summer banger and bring some happiness.

"By now we would have wanted to have been playing it in all the clubs and getting people to know the words, but because of the situation we're in it's a bit different.

"We are releasing it and nobody will have heard it, but we're hopeful it will do well."

The track is being released by label Perfect Havoc, which has had top 10 hits with 'Sorry' and 'Lonely' by Joel Corry.

It will be released on several platforms and can be pre-ordered here.
