Desborough artist's Captain Tom Moore painting goes viral

A Desborough artist's brilliant painting depicting Captain Tom Moore as a superhero has been a worldwide hit.

The inspirational 99-year-old war veteran raised more than £25m for the NHS by walking 100 laps of his garden in Marston Moretaine, Bedfordshire.

Former Montsaye Academy pupil Charlie Such, 21, decided to honour his achievement with a painting - and he hopes to send it to him as a 100th birthday present later this month.

The portrait artist said: "When I heard about Tom raising so much money it was just incredible.

"I wanted to do what I could to show my respect and created this painting with him as a superhero.

"He is nothing short of a legend."

Charlie, who started his own business six months ago, spent 24 hours creating the painting over the space of two days.

Images of the canvas have been liked and shared thousands of times online - including from Capt Tom's own Instagram account.

The Desborough man added: "Giving him the picture would make all of the hours worth it. It would be amazing.

"It would just be great to see his reaction and see that he knows how much he is appreciated."

Charlie excelled at art with an A* star at GCSE but left school for jobs in hairdressing and then sales.

He then decided to turn his passion into a career and is now so busy he has closed his books to keep up with demand.

Celebrities he has painted include rapper Aitch, Alex Bowen from Love Island and Chet Sket from Ex on the Beach.
