Contractors Whitemountain, who have been installing roads and drains on ultra-site for nearby Glenvale Park were asked to delay the start of the five-night resurfacing works and accompanying road closure of the A509 by Northamptonshire County Council (NCC).
NCC had informed the team responsible for working on Niort Way that the roadworks clashed with other unscheduled work and an accident.
David Stanfield, project manager for Whitemountain, said: "The road closure was cancelled last night by NCC due to emergency works elsewhere and / or an accident in the area -
both reasons were mentioned in their notification.
