Louise Preedy, community fundraising manager at Cransley Hospice, said: "Both organisations have experienced a huge drop in income over the last few months due to lockdown and the coronavirus.

"This is a fun way that people can get involved to raise money for two organisations that are so important to the community of north Northamptonshire."

Participants in the 1m kilogram challenge can lift anything from weights and dumbbells to more improvised weights like tins, pets or whatever else they have.

You could join in at the rugby club or lift at home. You can set yourself a personal lifting challenge and get friends, family and colleagues to sponsor you.

Those joining at home will need to email in their total weight lifted. The cumulative total weight lifted will be announced at intervals throughout the day as the people of Kettering strive to hit 1m kilograms!

If you're interested in taking part you can register for free on either Cransley Hospice's or Kettering Rugby Football Club's websites. You will get a sponsorship form and all other details.
