A pupil at a village school near Kettering is leading a campaign to help those in need by recycling glasses.

Seth Albert, who is in Year 5 at Cranford C of E Primary School in Church Lane, found five of his old spectacles and wanted to do something with them.

After the school asked parents to donate their old glasses they've now got more than 20 pairs to give to people in need - and they're looking for an organisation to collect them after finding a charity Seth learned about no longer does so.

Seth, nine, said there is no point leaving old glasses at home and wants people to help his cause so others can benefit from them.

He said: "Some people may have to work at home more and might not have the money for new glasses."

Assistant headteacher Rob Tyman said: "From a school perspective we are a Christian school and we are very keen that our children reflect the Christian values.

"I think it's really lovely that Seth has been so pro-active to help others.

"Now we are looking at where the best places are that will collect them. If you've got an idea please contact the school."

Anyone with a suggestion to put the glasses to use, or who would like to donate some old pairs of glasses, should email [email protected].
