A pre-school in a village near Corby has been closed due to a member of staff testing positive for Covid-19 over the weekend.

Parents at Chirpy Chicks Pre-school in Gretton were contacted after one member of staff developed mild symptoms and it was confirmed by test that they had the coronavirus.

Chirpy Chicks manager Karla Roberts said: "I was notified yesterday evening (Sunday) that a member of staff tested positive for Covid-19 after developing very mild symptoms on Saturday, November 14.

"The management team individually contacted every parent on Sunday evening to inform them of the situation and address any concerns they may have.

"We currently have six members of staff self-isolating and 27 children, with no further reports of anyone developing symptoms.

"The setting is routinely deep cleaned at the end of every session and all staff and families have followed Government guidelines.

"Due to the number of staff in self-isolation, with regret, the setting remains closed, and will re-open on Friday, November 27."

The closure does not effect the neighbouring school at Gretton Primary Academy.

Ms Roberts added: "We are working closely with Public Health England and the local authority and would like to thank our families for their kindness and support."
