Courses still on offer in Northamptonshire as charity takes its learning online

People in Northants are being offered the chance to learn online through the Workers Education Association (WEA).

WEA is a national charity that provides education of all kinds throughout the community, with a view to making education accessible to everybody.

Courses are available across Northants, including in Kettering, Corby, Wellingborough, Rushden and Northampton.

However, the coronavirus pandemic means the charity has had to make some changes to the way it works.

Rachel Crofts, education coordinator for Northamptonshire, said: "The Covid-19 response has meant that we are unable to deliver our courses in the community like we had originally planned, but the WEA remains committed to reducing inequality and combating social isolation, and so will be rolling out a programme of online informal activities, live lectures and short courses, which can be accessed via an computer or smartphone."

The first wave of courses can be viewed on www.wea.org.uk/liveonlinelearning and any activities accessed via this webpage are free.

Additional activities will be added to this page regularly and there is an option to join a mailing list to be notified of new topics as they are rolled out.

And Rachel added: "There is a great variety of content ranging from Homer to Household Budgeting and Medieval Battles to Mindfulness."
