A temporary bank holiday Covid-19 testing station has been set up by the army in Corby - but those eligible for tests were accidentally sent to the wrong site today thanks to a glitch on the government’s booking system.

The site, which is open only to those with a pre-booked appointment, was incorrectly listed on the national booking portal as being located at RS Components in Birchington Road on the opposite side of town.

The mobile testing station was actually at Rockingham Triangle and onlookers said that it was incredibly quiet today.

A statement from the Covid-19 Northamptonshire Local Resilience Forum said: “We apologise for any inconvenience or confusion this has caused. As soon as we were notified of the error we immediately sent personnel to RS Components to redirect residents to the correct site at Corby Town FC.

“Those who were booked in today (Friday 8th May) who were not redirected can still access a test by attending the Corby Town FCsite on either Saturday 9th May or Sunday 10th May between 11am-3pm by presenting their existing booking information.

”The mobile site in Corby is only open for pre-booked tests. There are different ways people can access tests both locally and nationally. You may have the option of taking the test at home or at a drive-through testing site. The GOV.UK website can provide you with the latest information.
