One of many community projects the venue ran throughout the multiple lockdowns of 2020 , The Core commissioned five artists to speak to some of the the most vulnerable or isolated members of the Corby community when the pandemic first hit.

Phoning them and offering an ear or some much-needed companionship, each artist then created work in their particular field to reflect the conversations they had.

Inspired by Rosie May’s work for Core Calls, the venue then commissioned the artist to create two large murals; one a reflection of lockdown and one to celebrate the theatre’s reopening.

Director of The Core Joe Flavin said: "We were blown away by Rosie May’s gorgeous work for us in the Core Calls project.

"For our reopening, we wanted something to reflect back on what we’ve all been through together as a society but also look ahead and celebrate those shared moments of coming back together.

"Better Together really captures what activities have got us all through the past 15 months, whilst Show Time is a fitting celebration to welcome back live performance.

"Rosie May’s colourful work captured the feel of the first lockdown but also cast a hopeful look towards what our collective future could be when the pandemic ends. We can’t wait for you to enjoy Rosie’s beautiful work at The Core."
