Corby's Lodge Park Academy to say goodbye to executive principal
Principal Carly Waterman will continue to oversee the Corby secondary school
Lodge Park Academy's executive principal will be leaving the school at the end of the academic year to take up a new role at a rival academy trust.
Robert Sloan will be taking up a new role as senior education adviser at Greenwood Academy Trust in September 2021 but principal Carly Waterman will continue to oversee the Corby secondary school.
Experienced senior leader Mrs Waterman was appointed as principal in July 2019, with the mission to raise standards with her senior leadership team.
Mr Sloan had been appointed in February 2019 at the school during one of the most turbulent periods in its history.Robert Sloan said: “Since being appointed as executive principal I have been delighted by the progress made in teaching, student behaviour, pastoral support and culture at Lodge Park.
"The stability and improvement in the teaching staff, as well as the strong sense of community we have developed means that the students at the academy are having an excellent experience, which will no doubt continue to improve over the coming years.
“With Mrs Waterman now well-established in her role as academy principal, along with the really strong senior leadership team in place, this summer feels like an appropriate time to move on to my next role.
“I will of course miss the students and the staff at Lodge Park Academy, it is a really special school and I will leave with many happy memories of my time here.
"I would like to thank you for your support during my time at the academy and look forward to working with the students, staff and community for the remainder of the school year.”
Mark Neild, deputy chief executive and director of secondary at the David Ross Education Trust, said: “Robert is an exceptional educator, a principled leader, and someone who has improved the lives of thousands of students over the nine years he has worked at the trust.
"I know how closely he has worked with principal Carly Waterman and the leadership team at Lodge Park Academy to transform the school, and it has been a pleasure to observe and support them all.
“The positivity at the school and amongst its community is a fitting legacy for his tireless work. Robert will be a great asset to his new trust and he joins them with our very best wishes. Thank you Robert, and good luck.”
