A 90s music festival, brought together by Corby’s own DJ Dupex, is being held at the end of August at The Junction.

The festival will feature Ian Van Dahl, a Belgian vocal trance and eurodance music project known for the hit single ‘Castles in the Sky’.

Eight more artists are yet to be announced.

Danny Upex, also known as DJ Dupex, came up with the event and aims to bring big acts for no profit to the town to bring back nightlife and to try and give something back to the town he grew up in and loves.

Danny said: “I’ve wanted to do a bit of a music thing in Corby for a while. I did a lot of things in lockdown where it was six to a table, and they used to sell out really quick but obviously you couldn’t have too many there because in Covid times you weren’t allowed.

“So I put together a bit of a 90s festival mock and I thought maybe this would work, so I spoke to a couple of people and got the big field at the rugby club.

“I’ve booked some really good celebrity DJs and some big artists from back in the 90s.

“I don’t want to make a profit on it, I just want to make the money back. I just want to provide Corby with something that people can go to. I want to put something on local that those people that can’t really afford it in the current climate are able to go to a music festival, see good acts, and still have a good time for cheap.”

As well as big names from the 90s there will also be DJs from Corby’s old nightlife scene with DJs who performed at clubs including Madison’s, Storm and Rubix.

At the festival there will be lots to see and do, including street food, festival make-up, fairground rides, dancers, performers and more.

Local businesses are also getting involved and sponsoring the festival to bring the town together so it's a ‘big community effort’.

The festival will be held on Saturday, August 31. Danny is hoping to make it an annual event.
