Corby West Link Road work to start soon with closures ahead

Work on the long-awaited Corby West Link Road is set to start in March, with a through route being closed for more than two months as construction takes place.

A stretch of road from the Kirby Road junction to the northern end of Kestrel Road will be closed to allow construction of a new section of road to branch off and loop round the back towards the A43 Stamford Road.

A spokesman for the owners of Priors Hall Park, Urban&Civic, said: "Please be aware that contractors Breheny are commencing with works in constructing the West Link Road at the northern end of Kestrel Road.

"Part of these works will see a construction phase on the Gretton Road requiring a temporary road closure from Monday, March 1 until Wednesday, May 10, 2021.

"During this period, vehicles will not be able to turn right onto Gretton Road from the northern end of Kestrel Road by Francis Jackson Homes."

The finished road will be a 40mph limit, in accordance with the conditions set out by Northamptonshire County Council.

Advanced warning signs will be put in place for the closure from today (Friday), up until the closure begins on Monday, March 1, with the diversion route using Halley Road, Steel Road, Phoenix Parkway and Gretton Brook Road.

Construction work will be carried out by Breheny Civil Engineering Ltd on the road that was granted planning permission in July 2016.

Permission has been granted for work to take place from 7.30am to 5.30pm between Monday to Friday and on Saturdays from 7.30am to 1pm.
