The healthcare team at Corby Urgent Care Centre have been receiving free food and drink from local restaurants as a 'thank you' for all their work during the current COVID-19 crisis.

Pictures shared on social media showed the team enjoying some of the food sent to them.

A spokesman for Corby Urgent Care Centre said: "The team at Corby Urgent Care Centre received a well-deserved thanks from their local community, for all their hard work and efforts during this period of uncertainty.

"Members of the team received a free coffee round from McDonald’s which was shared on a local Corby Facebook group page.

"The post received an influx of likes and engagements, all sending praise to the team at CUCC."

The post was widely shared and came to the attention of other local restaurants and businesses, who have got involved and sent food as a gesture of thanks.

Corby Urgent Care Centre's spokesman said: "Local Italian restaurant La Fonte provided the whole team with lunch and later in the day, dinner was delivered by Nando’s for the team to enjoy."

Other businesses are also supporting NHS and healthcare staff. Corby MOT centre is offering half price services and free MOTs, Paletto Lounge is giving free tea and coffee and Olive delivered food to Corby Urgent Care Centre last night.

In a post on Facebook, Olive said: "Being able to do this yesterday (Thursday) was amazing. The local support for all groups of people in Corby is amazing in times like these.

"If you have a business in Corby that can help anyone in need right now please do! That may be families that have lost their jobs, the elderly, people working in the supermarkets, delivery drivers, teachers, any of our emergency services, independent businesses and so many more."

Olive also urged people to keep in mind their local businesses in Corby.

Simone Ritson, service co-ordinator at Corby Urgent Care Centre, said: “The team here are dedicated to providing Corby residents high-quality care when they need it most.

"Although the current situation has impacted all of us here, the support we have received from our local community has been heart-warming. We are thrilled that everyone has come together to help us out – thank you, Corby!”
