Corby sports centre named one of UK’s top-performing leisure facilities with Association for Public Service Excellence award
Lodge Park Sports Centre in Corby has been handed an award as the Best Performer in Sports and Leisure Facility Management 2025 by the Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE).
The award reflects the Lodge Park’s outstanding standards in service delivery, efficiency, and community engagement. APSE assesses services in key areas such as usage levels and participation, customer satisfaction and quality measures, engagement with priority groups, and operational efficiency and cost per visit.
The centre in Corby, managed by North Northamptonshire Leisure in partnership with North Northants Council (NNC), caters for a range of interests, ages and abilities, with facilities such as gym equipment, an aerobics studio, virtual group exercise classes, an indoor cycling studio, and floodlit 3G FA accredited astroturf pitch.
Councillor Brian Benneyworth, North Northants Council’s executive member for health and leisure, said: "This award is a fantastic achievement and reflects the dedication of our leisure team at Lodge Park - a space where people improve their health, connect with others, and feel proud of their community. We’re committed to keeping these standards high for everyone who uses our valuable leisure facilities in North Northamptonshire."
APSE Performance Networks is the UK’s leading benchmarking service for councils and public service providers, with more than 200 local authorities and leisure operators participating each year.
Awards are based entirely on independently verified operational and performance data.
Councillor Martin Griffiths, leader of North Northamptonshire Council, added: "National recognition like this shows the value of our staff and the council’s commitment to physical activity facilities. An award-winning leisure centre team means better opportunities for residents - whether that’s staying active, meeting friends, or simply enjoying a space that belongs to the whole community.”
“I’d like to congratulate the staff at Lodge Park Sports Centre and the wider North Northants Leisure team on this prestigious national achievement and thank them for their continued commitment to delivering outstanding services for local residents.”
