Corby Scout and Guide gang ready to entertain with community donation boost to benefit audience

The annual gang show will still be going ahead as planned despite the coronavirus outbreak

Corby's annual traditional Scout and Guide gang show will be loud and proud this week as the cast take to the stage of the Core at Corby Cube.

This year, to support the community in the town, free tickets for the preview night have been provided free-of-charge thanks to a donation from a house building firm.

David Wilson Homes donated £1,000 to the Scouts and Guides-led Corby Gang Show 2020 - 'Loud and Proud'.

Mark Phipps, director of the Corby Gang Show, said: “We are absolutely delighted that Corby Gang Show has been chosen to receive the donation for David Wilson Home’s Community Fund.

“We want to use this money to support our community further by being able to offer free tickets to our Wednesday preview night performance on March 18 for local community organisations and groups. By doing this it allows the donation to benefit both our cast and the community.”

All local Scouts and Guides from the age of seven upwards are invited to become a part of the show; however the finances come entirely from fundraising efforts, grants and donations.

With the emphasis on bringing the community together and inclusivity, the show delivers a fun family performance by the young people and allows people of all ablities to get involved with a theatrical production.

Jason Hearn, Sales Director for David Wilson Homes South Midlands said “We love to support communities in a variety of ways; we recognise the importance of the community fund and the skills that theatre performances teach.”

David Wilson Homes chooses a community effort each month to donate some financial aid and provide support for valuable services in the local area.

Corby Gang Show is on at 7.15pm at the Core Theatre every night from Thursday, March 19 to Saturday, March 21 with an extra performance at 2.15pm on Saturday.
