Two people have been charged with a robbery at a Corby post office after the incident last month.

In the raid a gang of three people went into the post office in the McColl's shop in Danesholme Neighbourhood Centre.

Staff were threated with a dumbbell bar and one employee was hit on the head.

A spokesman for Northants Police said: "Two people have been charged in connection with a robbery at a post office in Danesholme Centre, Corby.

"The incident happened at about 7.15pm on Monday, May 24, when three people entered the post office and threatened staff with a dumbbell bar before hitting one of them on the head twice and stealing items.

"Sharon Anne Gilchrist, 37, of Lapland Walk, Corby, and William Brown Youdale, 36, of Northampton Road, Wellingborough, have both been charged with robbery in connection with the incident and remanded into custody.

"A 39-year-old man arrested on suspicion of robbery has been released on bail pending further enquiries."
