Corby murder: Roads remain taped-off as police guard scene of stabbing

Cordons remain in place across the Hazel Leys estate this evening after a 16-year-old was stabbed to death.Constable Road and Hogarth Walk are shut to traffic following the tragic incident this evening. Residents are being allowed to access their homes.

Our reporter on the scene spoke to shocked local people in the area, which is just a hundred metres from Corby town centre. They said that they had seen a huge police presence on the estate from around 7pm.

A 19-year-old local man said: “They looked like armed police looking for someone or something.

“It seemed to be mainly around the green in Hogarth Walk.

“There were police and ambulances all over the place. It’s so shocking. You don’t expect this to happen in Corby. It’s been years and years since a teenager was last killed here.”

The police helicopter was in the areau along with dozens of officers, many of whom remain on the scene this evening.

One resident of Constable Road said: “We’ve had some issues with kids in gangs hanging around but it’s usually low level stuff. Absolutely nothing like this. It’s just incredibly sad. His poor parents.”

A group of teens who had arrived in the area at about 10.15pm said that they had heard the victim was a local boy who had been stabbed in the chest but his identity has not been confirmed by the authorities.
