Corby, Kettering, Wellingborough and Rushden shops open after 13 weeks in lockdown

Stores not selling 'essential' goods shut their doors to shoppers 91 days ago

Shops across the north of the county reopened their doors for business today (Monday, June 15) 13 weeks since lockdown began with social distancing measures in place to protect staff and customers.

Town centre shops selling sportswear, mobile phones, clothes, stationery, books, greetings cards, shoes and records - all classed as non-essential - were once again trading.

Signs reminding people to keep a 2m distance have been placed on street lamps, sprayed on pavements and stuck to surfaces across the high streets and shopping malls and precints.
