Corby DJ Danny clinches record deal thanks to knockout endorsement from MMA man McGregor

A Corby DJ is set to hit the big time with a record deal after his video went viral thanks to a share from mixed martial arts star Conor McGregor.

Danny Upex, known as DJ Dupex, spent the past summer bringing his mixing skills to packed party venues in Ibiza and Cyprus returning to the UK to work on his music.

One of his beach party anthems featured snippets of an interview with the mixed martial arts champion - a video that has now been liked over six million times.

Danny said: "I posted a track that features an interview after he'd won his two world belts. Conor McGregor went crazy for it.

"He put it on his Facebook and Instagram and it's had about six million hits now. At first he liked it and I had thousands of messages come through from everyone.

"The next night I heard my phone vibrating and he'd tagged me into a post. He had commented that he thought it was really good.

"It's really raised my profile."

After going viral at the end of November, the 25-year-old has now been contacted by a record company and been offered a five-year deal.

His debut single called Desolate, available in the new year as a download and vinyl, features a sample of The Smiths' 1983 classic This Charming Man using the line 'punctured

bicycle...desolate.'

Danny said: "I quite like 80s music and The Smiths. The track is coming out some time in January on DeeVu Records. I'll be promoting the track on social media.

"It's a dream come true. I really hope for this to be a success and I'm hoping this track will be massive.

Danny will be back in Corby for Christmas after a busy series of DJing gigs across the UK including Birmingham and Leicester.

He is planning another summer of gigs at hoping to provide the soundtracks at party resorts including Ibiza,Tenerife, Crete and Zante.
