Corby construction worker scoops £25k cash prize after rebuilding his life following serious motorbike crash

A construction worker has won a £25,000 cash prize, delivering a welcome boost after years of rebuilding his life following a serious motorbike accident.

Leonard Webb from Corby was at work when he received an unexpected video call revealing he was the latest BOTB’s weekly Pick Your Prize Competition winner.

A BOTB Pass member, Leonard is automatically entered into selected competitions, meaning he had no idea he was about to receive such an incredible surprise from BOTB presenter Nicole Jeffery.

He said: “That’s mental, I honestly wasn’t expecting anything like this.

“It’s life-changing as I’ve been going through a really hard time.”

Leonard’s life changed dramatically following a serious motorbike crash that left him with life-long injuries.

Having started out as a bricklayer, he was unable to continue in the physically demanding role after the accident and now works supervising groundworks in the construction industry.

Now, his £25,000 win has arrived at a particularly meaningful time, offering some financial breathing space and the chance to make special memories with his family.

Leonard had hoped to join his partner and their two children on a family holiday, but financial pressures meant he couldn’t afford to take the time off work. His family are currently away without him, making the win all the more poignant.

Leonard said: “If it had come a month earlier, I would have been on holiday with the family right now.

"They’re away at the moment, but I couldn’t afford to take the time off work to go with them. I’ll have to arrange a separate holiday with them now.”

Nicole said: “Surprising Leonard with £25,000 was such a special moment. You could see just how much the news meant to him, especially knowing what he’s been through over the last few years.

“After such a serious accident and having to deal with life-long injuries, Leonard has faced some really tough challenges.

"He’s worked hard to rebuild his life and it was wonderful to be able to bring him some good news when he needed it.

“It’s lovely to think that this win could give him and his family something positive to look forward to, whether that’s a holiday together or simply a little more financial breathing space.”

Founded in 1999, BOTB has given away prizes to more than one million people, including £175 million-worth of cars so far.

It is currently offering people the chance to win a stunning five-bedroom home in Surrey worth £1.3 million in a competition costing just £1 to enter.
