One of Corby's biggest clubs has unveiled its new look socially-distanced beer garden as the country gets back to the post-lockdown new normal.

The Grampian Club in Patrick Road, which is currently only open to members, has been reconfigured indoors and outdoors to allow clients to enjoy a drink in safety.

Keith Palmer, general manager, said: "We have made space outside in the garden for 170 seated. I could hold more but we want to make it safe for customers and staff.

"We are using the old bowling greens where we normally have our Party in the Park. We used to be able to have 1,000 people before Covid."

Measures in place include taking temperatures on entry, members to follow a one-way system and use hand sanitiser.

In order to re-open safely, the club stopped members from using the lounge as a seating area - only keeping it open as a bar.

There are three other bars in the Patrick Road complex to serve customers including one in the function room where only background music will be allowed.

The 3,000-strong membership will be able to use the club from Thursday to Sunday under the new strict regulations.

Keith added: "We do have an ordering app that is in the process of being developed and should be ready in less than 10 days.

"Currently we are only open to members but we hope in the future to be able to welcome non-members."
